PRIORITY

Clean Water and Energy

Access to water is an issue which should unite all Texans. But after decades of neglect, many in the current leadership want to spend billions on water projects to enable big-tech data centers, instead of prioritizing drinking water for families. We certainly should look to improve our water infrastructure, but gains can also be found in common-sense conservation and re-use policies.

Clean Water for Families,
Not Data Centers

Texas continues to face serious drought conditions, and we need to get serious about our water priorities. For decades, the current leadership has failed to address the growing need for water in vast swaths of Texas. Now, tech companies are flocking to Texas to take advantage of our cheap energy to build their facilities. These Data Centers are gulping down water like there's no tomorrow – using precious resources that could supply entire towns. While these facilities keep popping up across Texas, Vikki believes your family's water needs should come first, period.

What Vikki wants to build:

  • A Smarter Texas Water Plan – We need comprehensive planning that puts families before industrial giants. Let's require stronger conservation measures from big water users while protecting your access at home. [HB 1306]

  • Freedom to Conserve at Home – Texas families deserve more options to collect and reuse rainwater, greywater, and AC condensate. These simple steps can dramatically reduce pressure on our strained water systems. [HB 1432]

  • Fixing Our Leaky Infrastructure – We're losing billions of gallons every year through aging, broken pipes – enough water to supply multiple major Texas cities. It's time to invest in repairs and replacements that stop this massive waste. [HB 2422]

  • Expanding Water Recycling – We need to invest in purple pipe recycling systems that allow treated wastewater to be safely used for landscaping and industrial processes. These innovative systems help us save precious drinking water for where it's actually needed.

  • Empowering Texans Through Education – With better information about water usage and conservation strategies, Texas families and businesses can make smart choices that save water without sacrificing quality of life. [HB 2422]
